Project 8: One Malaysia Community Construction Trip

Date: 2-4 October 2009

It's a different project outside the studio. I enjoyed the 3 days 2 nights at there.

Bamboo Construction

We faced a lot of problem and failure when making the bamboo cube, such as how to make the joints to create a stronger cube. Some of us even had to made the second cube because the first cube was not strong enough and collapsed by the blow wind. We spent a lot of time to made the cube too.

KURSUS PIMPIN SISWA

Date : 7-9 August 2009
Location : Kem Belantara Elit, Kuala Nerang, Kedah.



1. Raining heavily when we were on the way to the camp.

2. Arrived Kem Belantara Elit.

3. Many rubber trees (it is still raining)

I had gained new experiences from this camp. Especially the activities such as mid night jungle trekking and survival cooking.

We need to wake up at mid night 2am for jungle trekking. We walked through the rubber trees farm and paddy fields. This trekking took about 2 to 3 hours.

On the survival cooking element, each group are provided a chicken, rice, vegetables and others cooking materials. The muslim had to kill the chicken and we cooked it as our lunch. All groups were also present their dish to the judge to taste which group cooked the most delicious lunch.

Lecture

"Visible-Invisible, Seen-Unseen: Privacy"

The talks is started with the moment we get the letter from USM. We were happy and excited at that moment, and we started to dream about our future life...

During the years we study at university, we must remember our parents and family advice, that is to behave our self and study well.

Besides, we have to dress properly. We should analyse our strong side and weakness as well. For our weakness, we can try to improve it during the years at university.

The sentence I like from the talks is our objective as a HBP student is to make the earth looks beautiful. For instance, when we construct a building, we should consider and plan about the landscape area to make the surrounding of the building looks green.

MY BIG BANG

On the afternoon RUS101 class, we were get known to our hbp senior who in charge of our hbp orientation which will held on 9-12 July. They told us the details for the 4 days activities such as futsal, netball, 'tarik tali' and grand dinner. They collect orientation fee from us and the class finished.

9 July
-Sweat Moment
On the evening after our lecture, we played 4 matches of futsal against our course mate and our lectures. Some of the player get injured. However, we still had fun.

10 July
-Open ceremony
All HBP newbies were gather at E48B hall. After the speech and the declaration of the opening of the ceremony, we went to futsal court continues yesterday futsal matches.
-Ice breaking
At the night, we gathered at Dataran Merah. All of us separated to our own group to build a sculpture with manila card, marker pens, glue, scissor and etc. Besides, we practise our group's cheers. We then performed it in front of all people.

11 July
-Special module
Straw, plastic rope, plastic bag, newspaper and an egg. That's the stuffs provided for us to build a case to protect the egg from brakes when it will release from second floor. All of us involved and produced ideas to make the case. Our egg cracked on the test. However, it was a good effort.

-Explorace

We gathered at Dataran Merah on 8:30pm . We then separated in our own groups. The Explorace started as we need to pass the 8 stations in shortest time in order to win the race.

12 July

-Performance

We chose fashion show as our performance. The fashion show title is the transformation of the century's fashion wearing style.

-Grand dinner

Location: Dataran Merah All of us are required to wear a mask at the dinner. There are many of candle lights along the walk way. It look nice and peaceful on the night. We enjoyed the performance from every groups and the BBQ dinner as well.

WHAT I READ TODAY, 06 JULY 09 (0900-1200)

I have learnt about the steps for production. First of all, to make a product, we must have intention. We are the actor who act by follow the rules to form a product on a site.

There are tools we can use during the process of production such as documentation, communication, design, construct and serve. Which include texts, images and models that we use often.

Our production must be produce by our own effort and orininality. We cannot copy others idea without permission. Plagiarism are not allowed in production. It is a crime.
